Zardari denies reaching ‘understanding’ with PM over Panama Leaks

Former president and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari rejected the assertion that he has reached some ‘understanding’ with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on the issue of Panama Leaks.

The former president also denied holding any meetings with Maulana Fazlur Rehman in London recently, terming the assertion in a section of the media that he has reached some understanding with the prime minister on the issue of Panama leaks as untrue.

“Pakistan People’s Party has a clear stance on Panama Leaks and rumours about reaching an understanding with Nawaz Sharif are untrue, baseless and ill-intentioned,” Zardari said in a statement on Sunday.

The former president not only contradicted the reports regarding reaching an understanding with the prime minister, he also stated that “his party has already decided to pursue the Panama Leaks issue to its logical conclusion”.

“Media reports trying to give the impression that I may have a different stance on the issue are untrue and baseless and seem motivated to create confusion,” he said.
