PM Nawaz to chair meetings on Monday via video link

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif shall be presiding over key meetings of the National Economic Council (NEC) and the cabinet on Monday to discuss the approval of the fiscal year federal budget 2016-17  through a video link.

The premier will be the first prime minister in the history to address cabinet meetings and other conferences through a video link.

The decision to this effect was taken in a high-level meeting, attended by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif at the Prime Minister House.

The meeting decided to get the nod of the national budget via Skype from the premier.

According to a representative of the prime minister, PM Nawaz will visit the United Kingdom Pakistani High Commission on Monday from where he would address the meetings and would give approval of the federal budget of the next fiscal year.

According to reports, indicate that it was decided that Ishaq Dar would look after important matters in the absence of PM Nawaz. It was also decided that the prime minister would be kept informed of the situation within the country.

PM Nawaz will have an open heart surgery on Tuesday and doctors have advised him to take a week long rest after the operation.
