Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Sunday held a meeting with the National Press Club (NPC) office-bearers at Bani Gala and said that the media had awakened political consciousness among the new generation and due to social media it had become impossible to deceive the public.

Imran said the country cannot function without a chief executive and his party will raise the issue of the PM’s absence in the parliament.

He said that Nawaz will be blamed if democracy gets derailed in the country.

Imran said that a leader has to be answerable to public in a democratic system as considering oneself above law and accountability betrays a dictatorial mindset and is not just.

He said that Pakistan is facing an immense crisis as Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif refuses to resign. He said that elections had been conducted but lack of democratic behavior led to the absence of real sense of democracy in the country. He said that poor nations are facing devastation as their leaders have been involved in money laundering.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) would never have won the elections without the Election Commission’s support, the PTI chairman said, and added that the party had bribed individuals from every sphere of life including police, administration, journalists and judges.

Imran said that they had every right to storm the streets if they did not get justice. He said that chances of military intervention will die if rigging and corruption is eradicated from the country. He said that the PTI recognises journalists’ valuable services for stable democracy in the country.
