Leaders extend wishes to Nawaz ahead of his surgery

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will have an open heart surgery on Tuesday and doctors have advised him to take a week long rest after the operation, his family and officials said on Friday night.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi Saturday (today) sent his wishes through Twitter and wished Prime Minister Nawaz for a speedy recovery.

“My best wishes to PM Nawaz Sharif Sahab for his open heart surgery on Tuesday. And for his speedy recovery & good health,” tweeted Narendra Modi.

Prime Minister Sharif’s daughter Maryam Nawaz also tweeted about the development, saying: “PM in 2011 had a cardiac procedure called ‘Atrial Fibrillation Ablation’, during which certain complications occurred resulting in…. Perforation of heart which was, in turn, treated by open heart surgery.”

She further said: “The team of cardiologists & cardiac surgeons after a thorough examination. Scans and tests have decided to go for an open heart surgery. He will be on specific medication for the next 3 days before his surgery on Tuesday.

“The recovery period & hospital stay will be one week & he will travel Insha’Allah back to Pak as soon as the doctors allow. Prayers needed.”

In a tweet, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said: “Appeal to all Pakistani to pray for our PM. Sincerely hope his surgery goes well and he recovers soon.”

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan tweeted: “My prayers for PM Nawaz Sharif’s successful surgery and speedy recovery.”

PTI leader Arif Alvi tweeted: “I pray for the good health of Nawaz Sharif PM of Pakistan who shall be undergoing open heart surgery in the UK and wish him early recovery IA.”

PPP’s Sherry Rehman said on twitter: “Sorry to hear about PM Nawaz’s heart surgery. Wish him a speedy recovery.”
