Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera has said that the implementation of the strategy to eliminate nepotism from the police department is producing positive results.
To end the negative culture at police stations, no pressure and interference would be accepted particularly in posting and transfer of the officials and preparation of their ACRs, he said while addressing an RPO conference on Friday.
The IGP called upon the field officials to strictly observe categorisation of the DSPs. He said no DPO can change the category of any DSP from B to A or vice versa. He said that the category can only be changed on the recommendations of the RPOs, with the approval of the CPO. He said that only those officers would fall in the A category who enjoy good reputation and who do not have the posting tenure of any district for more than 10 years. He said that no DSP rank officer is being posted to his home district under this policy.
About the illegally recruited constables, he directed the officials concerned to make arrangements for their immediate arrest after cancellation of their bails.
Sukhera ordered computerisation of record of all transfers and postings to get rid of monopoly and malpractices of clerks.
All senior officials of the police department attended the conference.
