Panama probe: committee to start framing ToRs today

The Parliamentary Committee on Panama Papers will formally start framing Terms of Reference on Friday (today).

In its second meeting the other day, the committee agreed in principle on the preamble of the ToRs.

Talking to the media after the meeting, a member of the parliamentary committee Khawaja Saad Rafique expressed confidence that opposition and the government will reach consensus ToRs for an investigation into Panama Papers.

Aitzaz Ahsan, said the opposition members are participating in the proceedings of the committee with an open heart and mind.

He said we are ready to remove the name of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif from the ToRs furnished earlier by the opposition.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi said the committee wants to make the investigation into Panama papers result oriented.

The opposition is represented by Senator Aitzaz Ahsan, Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif, Senator Ilyas Ahmad Bilour, MNAs Tariq Bashir Cheema, Sahibzada Tariqullah and Shah Mehmood Qureshi.

The government is represented by Senator Ishaq Dar, Khawaja Asif, Khawaja Saad Rafiq and Mr. Bizenjo attended the meeting from the government side. Anusha Rehman and Akram Khan Durrani.
