The Rawalpindi Customs Court (RCC) on Thursday adjourned hearing of a currency smuggling case against model Ayyan Ali indefinitely.

When RCC judge Rana Aftab Ahmad took up the case for hearing, her counsel Latif Khosa prayed the court to grant a one day exemption to his client.

The court expressed displeasure over non filing of her medical certificate by her counsel. Khosa told the court that his client could not appear before the court due to health complications, as she had sent her medical certificate through WhatsApp.

The court while putting off the hearing of the case for an indefinite period, maintained that the petition filed by the accused seeking her acquittal was pending with the Lahore High Court (LHC) and that the hearing could not be held. The next hearing will take place after the record has been received from the high court.
