The holy month of Ramazan is most likely to start on June 7 (Tuesday) in Pakistan and will continue for 30 days till July 6, Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Chairman Mufti Munib ur Rehman has announced.
According to reports, the Ramazan moon is expected to be sighted in the country on June 6 (Shaban 29 according to Islamic calendar).
The sun shall set at 7:36pm PST on June 6 whereas the moon can be sighted till 8:36pm PST. The angle of the moon on the horizon shall be 15 degrees and the duration of the lunar phase of the moon shall be 35 hours and 46 minutes.
Some cities of the country including Islamabad and Lahore will even observe 16-hour long fast while some parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa including Peshawar will observe more than 15 and a half hours of fast duration.
Working timings for the government and private sectors will be reduced to 6 hours.
