Imran inaugurates 3 mini micro hydel power projects

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chief Imran Khan and Provincial Minister for Education and Energy Atif Khan on Wednesday jointly inaugurated the newly constructed micro hydropower generation stations in Battagram district.

They inaugurated three micro powers stations which include 200 KW Bela Bala, 75 KW Shagai and 30 KW Beesa Khait project in Battagram district. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Energy and Power Secretary Engr Naeem Khan, PEDO Board Chairman Shakil Durrani, PEDO CEO Akbar Ayub and Battagram District Nazim Atta-ur-Rahman.

The PTI chief said in a tweet: “The three community-run mini-micro hydel projects will provide cheap clean energy to poor communities of the mountainous area,” and added, “Costing Rs 5 billion, these hydel projects will provide electricity to 350,000 people.”

Khan said the KP government will establish 350 micro hydropower generation stations during the next one and a half years.

The minister announced upgradation of a local high school to higher secondary as well as construction of a sports stadium in Shamlai.
