An accountability court Thursday (today) handed over former finance adviser to the chief minister Balochistan, Mir Khalid Langov, to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on a 14-day remand.

NAB officials arrested Langov from outside the Balochistan High Court, where he appeared Wednesday for the hearing of a pre-arrest bail plea in relation to the ongoing investigation of Balochistan secretary finance Mushtaq Raisani’s corruption scandal.

He was arrested as he was exiting the court premises after the BHC bench dismissed his plea.

Earlier on May 17, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) had granted protective bail of 12 days to former Balochistan finance adviser Mir Khalid Langov.

Earlier this month, Langov said he was stepping down from his post to aid transparent investigations after a huge amount of the ill-gotten money was recovered from the residence of the provincial finance secretary Mushtaq Raisani.

The NAB had recovered more than Rs730 million from Raisani’s residence. He has been accused of embezzling billions of rupees from the local government development funds.
