Three Frontier Corps (FC) men were killed when unidentified motorcyclists opened fire on their vehicle at Patang Chowk in Peshawar on early Wednesday morning.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Abbas Majeed Marwat said the FC vehicle was approaching Patang Chowk from Ring Road when the assailants fired, killing two soldiers on the spot. A third succumbed to injuries at Lady Reading Hospital.
Police surrounded the area and launched a search operation, though no immediate arrests were made. Initial investigation suggests a 9mm pistol was used to kill the men.
Three alleged terrorists were killed last week as they rode a motorcycle to Kafoar Dheri area of Peshawar from Khyber Agency and a suicide vest exploded prematurely.
Police defused a jacket fitted on the body of a second bomber and recovered a Kalashnikov rifle, eight hand grenades and hundreds of live bullets.
