A delegation of the Scotland Yard team which is in Pakistan to investigate the murder of Dr Imran Farooq met with the suspects of the case at the Adiala Jail on Wednesday.
The Scotland Yard team met with the suspects of the Imran Farooq murder case in jail and spoke to them regarding their confessional statements. Sources disclosed that the team will also review the bank statements of the suspects.
The Scotland Yard team is likely to share important details of the case with the Pakistani Joint Investigation Team (JIT). The team arrived in Islamabad on Sunday morning and met with Sindh FIA Director Shahid Hayat Khan and discussed money laundering case against the MQM and other matters with him.
Dr Imran Farooq was murdered on September 16, 2010 in London outside his home. A subsequent investigation of the murder revealed that a knife and a brick had been used to murder the self-exiled MQM leader.
Dr Imran Farooq was a close confidant of the MQM chief Altaf Hussain and a senior leader of the MQM. He fled the country in 1992, after an operation had been launched against the party by security forces. He was living in North London after claiming political asylum.
