Stop Honour killing

Women in Pakistan are continuing to die in the name of honour killing, yet the State is silent and does not seem to protect the women. The cases of honour killing are occurring on a daily basis, due to poor criminal law and justice systems. Another honour-related killing case occurred recently, when a couple was gunned down by the girl’s father. The boy Shakeel and his wife Nosheen married of their own wish but it was against girl’s father’s wishes, so he killed both of them. Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) estimated that nearly 1,096 women were killed for honour between 2014 and 2015. The cases are being committed by one the closest relatives and family members. Pakistan is also on third place on the list of most dangerous country for women, where women are being treated cruelty. Honour killing aside, other cases of violence against women including rape, kidnapping, acid throwing and sexual abuse are growing on daily basis. It is really becoming dangerous for women to protect themselves and survive. I would like to request the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan to be serious and try to stop honour killing and save the lives of thousands of women.
