Five dead as van, bike collide head-on

 

At least five people were killed and eight others injured in a road mishap near Sultan Bahu Bridge over Chenab River here on Monday.

According to details, three people, Tasneem Raza, Musarat Raza and Ghulam Murtaza, were coming from Layyah to Shorkot on a motorcycle when the two-wheeler collided with a speeding van head-on. As a result, the three bike riders died on the spot while the van fell down into the river, resulting in death of two others.

A rescue team rushed and shifted the wounded and victims to a hospital.

Doctors at the hospital said that four of the injured people were in critical condition and were later referred to Multan’s Nishtar Hospital.

At least three women were killed and 12 others injured in a collision between a tractor-trolley and a passenger van here on Monday evening.

Rescue sources said that a speeding tractor-trolley and passenger van collided with each other near Sheikhupura on Hafizabad Road, killing three women on the spot and leaving 12 others wounded.

The bodies and injured were shifted to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital.

Police took both the vehicles into custody and after registering a case into the incident launched an investigation.
