The federal government maintained that the movie depicts elected representatives in a negative light.

The film is also critical of National Action Plan and the judiciary of Pakistan.

The entire country complained against the film, which is why it was banned, it said.

Maalik, an Urdu feature film released in April 2016 had already been playing in cinemas, was declared uncertified for the whole of Pakistan according to Section 9 of the Motion Pictures Ordinance, 1979 by the Ministry of Information few days back.
