Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has said that the government is sincere to form an independent accountable commission to probe the Panama leaks.
A parliamentary committee has been formed to prepare the terms of reference (TORs) for the commission, he said on Saturday.
The minister said that the government is serious about across-the-board accountability, but the opposition is afraid of it. Those criticising t offshore companies, themselves own offshore holdings, he said.
The political parties should refrain from creating anarchy and chaos on the Panama leaks issue as political instability will serve no one, he said. The minister, while referring to the economic gains made by the country over the last three years, said that the national economy is constantly increasing due to the economic reforms.
He earlier laid the foundation stone of Jammia Masjid Arqam Zamir and Dar-ul-Salam Educational Complex. The distance from religion is the basic reason of problems in the society, he said while addressing the ceremony.
