Governor for establishing institute to treat reproduction issues

Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan said that an institute to treat married couples for various signs of infertility and to resolve their problems regarding capability of reproduction would soon be established. Dow University of Health Sciences was rendered the task in this regard, he said.

While addressing a gathering arranged by Australian Infertility Medical Centre for the couples treated at the centre, he said that there were new advancements and findings in every field due to the development of science and technology which also include biological sciences and the IVF treatment procedure has been of paramount success for the infertile couples as millions of people have benefitted worldwide from this procedure.

Senior Minster Education and Literacy Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, former governor Sindh Lt General (r) Moinuddin Haider, Secretary Health Ahmed Bux Narejo and Prof Masood Hameed were also present on the occasion.

Dr Ebad further said that thousands of people had also adopted this procedure in Pakistan to have babies. There was an urgent need to follow and adopt the latest research in the field of chromosomal analysis and embryological development, he added.

The governor also said that those couples who didn’t conceive even only after a year of marriage were ridiculed which resulted in creating misunderstandings and rifts between families. Proper and timely diagnosis can ensure treatment of even the most complicated diseases, he optimistically said.

He lauded the efforts of Australian Infertility Medical Centre for helping in delivery of more than 8,000 babies in Pakistan since its establishment. Senior Minster Nisar Khuhro and Prof Masood Hameed also spoke on the occasion while CEO of the centre Dr Sajjad Hussain informed about the IVF treatment procedure and facilities provided at his centre in detail. Later, he distributed gifts amongst children born as a result of treatment at the centre.
