The Punjab government on Sunday decided to start summer vacations in Punjab government schools from May 24th due to the scorching heat across the country.
This was decided at a meeting chaired by Punjab Education Minister Rana Mashood and secretary education.
Earlier, the government schools were to open at 7 am and will conclude lectures by 11 am. The provincial government had further announced summer vacations from June 1.

Earlier this week, the Sindh government announced summer vacations and ordered the closure of all schools in the province for two months. Both private and government schools will remain closed until July 25.
However, reports about private schools not complying with the order surfaced on Friday. According to the reports, private schools demanded the government to give at least three-day time to comply with the instructions.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast spell of rains in different parts of the country starting from Sunday. Cloudy weather with strong gusty winds is also likely in Karachi.
