Man slits own throat on fake pir’s advice

A young man was rushed to a hospital after he slit his own throat on the advice of a so-called spiritual healer in Punjab’s Chiniot district on Friday.

According to reports, Nawaz, a resident of Tarkhan Mohalla, was rushed to the Allied Hospital Faisalabad where doctors said his condition was critical. The fake spiritual healer however fled following the incident.

Nawaz’s family members had reportedly taken him to the pir after he complained he was not feeling well. The spiritual-healer told Nawaz’s family that he was under the influence of djinns and evil spirits, and asked the man to slit his throat to set free an ‘invisible evil spirit’ that was strangling him.

Nawaz followed the pir’s advice, after which the self-claimed healer escaped from the spot.

Police officials said they were carrying out raids for the arrest of the self-claimed faith-healer.
