Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) has drilled a new gas reserve in Kotri area. Initial results show that at least 34 million cubic feet of gas is being drilled out every day.
According to experts, the discovery would aid government’s efforts to overcome the energy crisis.
Various companies are drilling in different areas of the country to discover new hydrocarbon reserves while the government is signing deals with foreign companies to curb the energy crisis.
In February, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif visited Qatar along with Minister for Petroleum Shahid Khaqan Abbasi where a long-term liquefied natural gas (LNG) deal was signed.
Under the agreement Pakistan will import 3.75 million tonnes of LNG annually from Qatar which will fulfill 20 per cent needs of Pakistan.
