CASA 1000 – Another Ray of Hope

They say a person needs just three things to be truly happy in this world: someone to love, something to do, and something to hope for. This is true as CASA-1000 is another ray of hope for energy starved Pakistan. This ambitious project worth $1.17 billion is based on the idea that during the summers, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan have abundant hydroelectric resources therefore, they will supply 1300 MW of electricity to Pakistan (1000 MW) and Afghanistan (300 MW). CASA-1000 is a flagship project and the first of its kind that will link Pakistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan in electricity grid.

The ongoing energy crisis in Pakistan has gradually worsened during the last decade therefore, it is hoped that the electricity purchased under this project will help resolve energy woes of Pakistan and mitigate the sufferings of people. Since electricity has become indispensable and essential for the socio-economic development of Pakistan therefore, such projects are the need of the hour and the government should leave no stone unturned to resolve the energy crisis in the country on a priority basis. The project will not only supply electricity to Pakistan and Afghanistan but also go a long way in regional integration, which is very important for economic and social development of the region. I strongly believe that hope always triumphs fear therefore, InshaAllah, that day is not far when darkness will eventually vanish from this country and our future generations will start living in a brighter Pakistan.

  1. Yeah right, CASA is a nice eye-wash. While our own Thermal Power Stations are lying dormant, PM is enjoying high profile visits to sign contracts for as low as 1300 MW non-sense contracts, that would bring power from central asia via war torn pak loving Afghanistan. Any patriot would have given a good bashing to Nawaz Sharif for again making a fool of this nation. Even an MOU for new hydro projects would have been a silver lining for us, pakistanis.
