The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Friday said that there is a high chance for the month of Ramazan to begin on June 7.

According to PMD, the Ramazan moon is expected to be seen on June 6, 1437 A.H, and the holy month will start on June 7.

“Minimum age of the moon for its sighting is 31 hours, and on June 6, it would be 36 hours old. Therefore, it could be seen easily in most of the cities, including coastal belt of Sindh and Balochistan,” according to the Met Office.

The day of Ramazan is highly likely to fall on June 7, Tuesday.

Formal announcement of the moon sighting, however, will be made by Mufti Munib-ur-Rehman, the Chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.

The committee is likely to meet on Monday (June 6) after Asr prayers at the building of Pakistan Meteorological Department Karachi (Met Complex).
