Third party to audit attendance of teachers at government schools

The District Monitoring Committee has decided to involve a third party to audit the attendance of the teachers at the government schools and colleges.

Official quarters said this system will guarantee the security of the teachers who are performing their duties on a regular basis.

There has been a difference of opinion between the District Monitoring Committee and the teachers of the government schools regarding the attendance of more than 9,000 teachers of at least 1,900 government schools.

The teachers of the government schools have expressed their complaints against the District Monitoring Committee by declaring their checking as “fabricated”. The teachers have said that the committee members do not enroll the correct attendance of the teachers due to personal resentment. The staff members of the schools also stated that the committee members indulge in misconduct with female teachers.

The organisations of teachers requested the district education department to respect the status of the teachers instead of vilifying them in the name of monitoring.

Keeping in view the differences between the teachers and the monitoring committee, the district education department decided to hire the services of a third party to audit the monitoring of the teachers. In this regard the education department is considering the intelligence department and special branch to perform the duties of a monitoring committee.

Meanwhile, the EDO Education Qazi Zahoor-ul-Haq said that monitoring of the teachers at the government schools and colleges is the job of the district education department.
