Sindh Education Department announces summer break schedule

The Sindh Education Department announced on Thursday that all educational institutions in the province will remain closed for two months.

All the government and private schools will remain closed from May 20 to July 25 in the wake of extremely hot weather in the province.

On the other hand, Met Office has warned about very hot and dry weather during the current week all over the country.

The plain areas of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and Sindh will be the centre of heat where day temperatures will cross over 45°C and central parts will touch a critical level of 50°C.

Temperatures in mountainous areas of GB and AJK will also rise by 4-5°C above average resulting in rapid melting of snow and glaciers.

The highest temperatures were recorded on Wednesday in Larkana at 52°C, Dadu, Mohenjo-Daro, Jacobabad, Pdidan, Sukkur, Sibbi 51°C, Rahim yar khan 50°C, Rohri, Turbat, Hyderabad, Mithi, Khanpur, Bhakkar 49°C, Noorpur thal, Kot Addu, Bhawalnagar and Shaheed Benazirabad 48°C.
