IED attack kills one policeman, injures four others

An improvised explosive device (IED) killed at least one Rapid Response Group (RRG) officer and injured four others, in a roadside attack on security personnel’s van near Quetta’s East Bypass, on Thursday.

According to police, the bomb exploded when five RRG men on board a police mobile crossed animal market.

The blast claimed the life of best RRG Shooter Atta Mohammad and injured Inspector Abdur Razzaq, Constable Sabir Hussain, Soldier Sana Ullah and Badul Waheed.

The victims were immediately taken to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) for medical assistance.

Police mobile was completely destroyed in the mishap while the explosion was heard far and wide that created panic among the residents.

Senior Superintendent of Police Sariab (SSP), Zahoor Ahmed visited the site and stated that four kg of explosive material was used in the remote control blast.

SSP Zahoor vowed to eliminate the menace of terrorism from the region by failing the anti-peace intentions of terrorists.

On the other hand, Chief Minister of Balochistan Nawab Sanaullah Zehri has condemned the attack and ordered an early investigation into the incident.

He has also directed the authorities to submit a report as soon as possible.
