Green Line metro bus route extended

The federal government has approved extension in the route of the Green Line metro bus and will undertake all necessary expenses.

The mass transit project from was initially planned from Surjani Town to MA Jinnah Road. However, the route has been altered and will now pass through Burns Road, Pakistan Chowk and then from Sindh Secretariat to Merewether Tower.

The new design of the route has been approved by engineers and experts working on the project.

Apart from this the clock tower at Cantonment Board Office roundabout will be dismantled and a new clock tower will be built. The cost will be borne by the federal government.

There will also be an increase in the number of buses and bus stops and the capacity of passengers after the construction of the Green Line metro system.

The extension is likely to cause a 9 percent increase in the project which costs an estimated 16 billion rupees.

The project was initially approved from Surjani Town to Gurumandir. It was extended to Merewether Tower when it was inaugurated by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

  1. They have just ruined the whole project by making this zigzag and making sind secretariat people happy. It will affect the bus timings. It must be directly to tower via light house. How many people go there daily from Surjani including people of City Courts. No direct route is available for those people. They have to change the bus or wait in Saddar area.
