The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) on Wednesday filed a petition with the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) seeking details of assets owned by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his family.
The petition was filed by senior PPP leaders Nayyar Hussain Bukhari and Latif Khosa, taking the stance that the prime minister and his family had hidden their assets in the declaration.
They requested the ECP to provide details of all assets owned by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif, MNA Hamza Shahbaz, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and Captain (r) Safdar.
The petition further read that the Panama Papers disclosures exposed the lies of Sharif family, while their stance on Panama leaks and assets declaration also differed.
It stated that the premier and his family are liable to face action under the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), Anti-Money Laundering Act and Customs Act.
The PPP leaders urged the ECP to provide details so that due process could be initiated against them (Sharifs).
