Mango production increases 40%

Production of mangoes has increased nearly to 40 per cent in the new season compared to last year’s produce.
According to the Fruit and Vegetable Association of Pakistan, mango production up to at least 16 lac ton is expected out of which one lac ton worth USD 7.5 crore has been planned to be exported.
An above average produce of mango is expected due to sustainable climatic conditions, lower levels of fog, lesser rains and growers’ understanding of managing orchards throughout the year.
Association stated that Pakistani mangoes are exported to UAE, Europe, SaudiArabia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Canada among other countries.
The association is trying to land export contracts from Korea, United States (US), China and Australia in the ongoing season.
