Various parts of the country continued to experience an intense wave of heat on Tuesday, with the mercury hitting the 50 degree Celsius mark in Larkana and Mohen Jo Daro.
The temperature recorded today in Nawab Shah was 48C, 47C in Sukkur, and 46C in Hyderabad and Rahim Yar Khan. The temperature in other cities such as Bhakkar, Dera Ismail Khan, and Bahawulpur was 45C.
According to the Met department, the maximum temperature in Karachi will range from 37-39C on Tuesday. The humidity level in the coastal city was 54 percent, due to which heat-intensity would increase.
On Monday, the Met office had warned about very hot and dry weather during the week all over the country.
“The low elevation agricultural plains of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunhwa, Balochistan and Sindh will be the centre of heat where day temperatures will cross over 45C and central parts will touch a critical level of 50C,” the press release had said.
The Met Office said that, due to continuity of sea breeze, temperature would not rise sharply in the coastal areas of Pakistan. The Met office advised people to take preventive measures in order to avoid dehydration and heatstroke.
“Temperatures in mountainous areas of Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir will also rise by 4 to 5C above average resulting into rapid melting of snow and glaciers,” warned the Met Office
