Another polio case was confirmed in Bannu on Friday, pushing the tally of 2016’s polio cases in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to six.

Reportedly, nine-month-old Iqbal, a resident of Ghauriwala area, tested positive for the polio virus. Sources said his father had refused to administer him anti-polio vaccine.

The first polio case of the year in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was reported in January. Another two cases surfaced in February. Later, one each case was identified in Nowshera and Peshawar.

Pakistan and Afghanistan are the only two countries in the world where polio virus is still endemic.
