Zardari’s Pir draws close to Imran Khan: report

Former president and Pakistan People’s Party Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari’s spiritual adviser, Pir Ejaz Shah on Monday whispered something in the ear of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan that brought a smile on the cricketer-turned-politician’s face, a private news channel has reported.

According to the news channel, PPP leadership has made a special request to Pir Ijaz to witness the National Assembly proceedings on Monday where Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was expected to give a policy statement on the Panama Papers issue, which involves his children’s ownership of offshore companies registered in Panama.

TV footage of Pir Ijaz’s Shah brief interaction with the PTI chairman shows Shah reaching out for Khan’s head and drawing it close to his face. The ’spiritual guide’ then whispers something in Khan’s ear which brings a broad smile on the opposition leader’s face.

Ijaz Shah is a well-known figure among political circles. He was a permanent guest at the President’s House when the Pakistan People’s Party was in government and Asif Zardari was the President of Pakistan.
