A Los Angeles news station has come under fire after it forced a morning meteorologist to cover up with a cardigan live on-air when viewers complained about her sparkling black dress.

Liberte Chan was delivering the 8am weather report on Saturday when a grey cardigan suddenly popped into view.

‘What’s going on,’ she asks morning anchor Chris Burrous, who was off-camera as he held out the sweater. ‘You want me to put this on? Why? ‘Cause it’s cold?’

‘We’re getting a lot of emails,’ he replies as Liberte puts on the cardigan, a confused look on her face. ‘There you go.’

Liberte tries to make the best of the situation, tying the ends of a cardigan like a wrap as Burrous tells her: ‘Everyone’s got an opinion on your dress this morning.’

‘Alright well, I’m sorry,’ Liberte tells her viewers.

‘The other dress didn’t work. I had to wear something.’

The awkward interruption quickly caught the attention of the Twitterverse, with many saying they were outraged that KTLA forced Liberte to put a cover-up on while she was doing her job.
