Speaker accepts resignations of MQM’s Mangi, Bheel

 

 

Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani accepted resignations of Ashfaq Mangi and Ponjo Bheel of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Monday.

Mangi has joined the Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) of Mustafa Kamal while Bheel has joined the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) after leaving the MQM.

At least, nine seats are vacant now in the provincial assembly for different reasons. Dr Sagheer Ahmed, Iftikhar Alam, Ashfaq Mangi and Ponjo Bheel resigned whereas two others, Bilqees Mukhtar and Dilawar Khan have announced to resign as well. Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) Irfanullah Marwat and PPP’s Sattar Rajpar were declared ineligible while PPP’s Sardar Muqeem Khoso passed away in April.

Sindh Assembly’s secretary has said that a letter has been dispatched to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to hold elections on the vacant seats.
