The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday sought comments from the Prosecutor General Sindh on a plea filed by Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Rauf Siddiqui requesting the court to combine all hate-speech cases registered against him.

SHC bench, headed by Chief Justice Sajjad Ali Shah, was hearing the plea.

Siddiqui submitted that he has been named in over 20 cases pertaining to hate speeches against military establishment in different police stations. He requested the court to combine all the cases together since they are of the same nature.

The court issued notices to the prosecutor general, directing him to file the comments on the next hearing.

The MQM chief is facing charges for delivering hate speeches against the military establishment and other security agencies while other party leaders including Rauf Siddiqui are named in the charge sheet for facilitating and arranging these hate speeches.

Over 20 cases have been registered against Rauf Siddiqui under the clauses of the Pakistan Penal Code and Sections 6 and 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act of 1997.
