Power shortfall surpasses 4000 megawatts

Electricity shortfall has surpassed 4000 megawatts in the country despite government‘s tall claims.

Sources said that shortfall has increased manifold for the reason that power generation has restricted to 12,500 MW against the demand of 16,500 MW.

According to the new schedule issued by authorities, urban areas would face eight to ten hours of power cut while 12 to 14 hours of load shedding would be carried out in rural areas.

Earlier, Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif and State Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Asif assured to eliminate power cut by March 2018.

The ruling party said that work is underway on power generation and laying new transmission lines in addition to upgrading the distribution system.
