DG Rangers, IGP put on notice in missing persons’ cases

The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday issued notices to the Sindh Rangers director general and Sindh Police chief, directing them to submit their comments on the petitions seeking whereabouts of missing persons.

The petitioners alleged that their relatives were picked up by law enforcers but their arrests were not being disclosed.

SHC bench, headed by Justice Irfan Saadat, took up the petitions filed for recovery of missing men, Dil Murad, Muhammad Yousuf, Farhan among others.

Aisha, the wife of missing Dil Murad, submitted that they are the residents of Mauri pur area of Karachi, her husband has been missing since 11 May. She had approached the concerned police station but the whereabouts of her spouse are still unknown.

Separately, Shabana, the mother of missing Muhammad Yousuf, informed the court that the whereabouts of her son have not been traced since 8 April.

In another petition, Sumera, the wife of missing Farhan, said that her husband has been missing since 13 April. They are the residents of Karachi’s Liaqutabad area.

Citing DG Rangers Sindh, IGP Sindh and home secretary as respondents, the petitioners prayed the court to direct the respondents to produce the detainees before the court.
