Many protesters booked for clash in Nankana Sahib

A case has been lodged against protesters over Nankana Sahib clash while no arrest has been made in this regard so far, a private TV channel reported on Sunday.

The operation has been suspended until the second order and according to the district administration, the situation is under control.

At least six policemen and a civilian got injured during the clash as Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) launched an anti-encroachment drive in Nankana Sahib on Saturday.

The operation was launched to vacate eight kanals of land.

Locals started protesting against the anti-encroachment operation in a village near Kot Sant Ram bypass.

As police tried to disperse the mob, angry protestors pelted them with stones, injuring six policemen. In reaction, a civilian was injured as police resorted to baton charge and aerial firing.

Later, angry vandalised the Evacuee Trust Property Board’s office later set the building on fire. Property worth millions and other records were gutted.

Locals stated that no one stopped them when they were constructing the buildings.
