Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University’s convocation held

As many as 80 students were awarded degrees in different fields and Maheen Ali received a gold medal at the Shaheed Benazi Bhutto University’s convocation on Saturday.

Pakistan Higher Education Commission (HEC) Chairman Prof Dr Mukhtar Ahmed and Member National Assembly (MNA) Dr Azra Fazal Pechohu were guests of honour.

The HEC chairman, while addressing the occasion, said that under the Prime Minister Programme, each district and city would get best education by 2018. Scholarship programme of Rs 100,000 has been accorded for talented graduate students by federal government, he added. He said that students are being provided with scholarships for research work, latest education and PhD.

He added that government of Pakistan and HEC are jointly working for bringing improvements in three sectors namely water, energy and food security. In this regard, he said that number of programmes have been started relating to water issues while different universities in co-operation with other countries are working on energy sector. Under the food security programme, he said, all agricultural universities of Pakistan are conducting research work to keep fruits and vegetables fresh arriving from different parts of the country.

Dr Azra said that education plays important role in the development of society, nation and country. She said that PPP established Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University to impart better education to our children. The graduating students, she said, would brighten up the name of the country worldwide. She said that there is no dearth of outstanding talents in the country and our students have proved it by winning many world titles. She said that a network of universities is being spread in the whole province in order to provide best education facilities to our youth.

  1. Students would be more delighted after getting their degrees and hopefully it will also inspire other students to take part in the academic programs with respect to their interest and abilities.
