The Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf continued its streak by sweeping the third position in the recently held by-polls in PK-08 in Peshawar.
“The people of Peshawar, and PK-08 in particular, have spoken: that they have complete confidence in PTI, in an imaginary scenario where there are no PML-N and PPP,” said KP chief minister, Pervez Khattak.
“It was quite a struggle; we beat the JUI-F for this position by 39 votes,” he said in a post-victory press conference. “But we also beat the ANP, the Front National Party, the Tehrik-e-Tahaffuz-e-Pakistan, the Pakistan Rah-e-Haq Party and others.”
“And that is not to mention the strong line of independents whom we beat — including, but not limited to, Anwar Gul — who secured an impressive 25 votes.”
Political observers were predicting the result. “Parties that run provincial governments usually win by-polls,” said Ismail Haider, a local political analyst. “The PTI, as everyone knows, does not run the provincial government. No one does.”
