Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that the success of a PML-N candidate from Peshawar was an expression of confidence of the people in his government, who rejected the hollow slogans of new Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

“The people of Peshawar have rejected negative politics. The success of the PML-N candidate is an expression of confidence of the people in public-friendly policies of the federal government. The people have voted for development agenda while rejecting the hollow slogan of new KP,” Nawaz said while congratulating Arbab Waseem Hayat who won by-polls in the PK-8 constituency in Peshawar.

According to unofficial results, Waseem was declared successful after a vote recount.

Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif, meanwhile, said in a tweet that the Peshawar by-polls’ results have shown what people wanted.

“The people voted for the PML-N candidate while taking into account ground realities and buried the politics of sit-ins once and for all,” he said.
