A local court on Saturday reserved its decision on a plea to declare former military ruler Pervez Musharraf an ‘absconder’ in the Ghazi Abdul Rashid murder case.

Additional Sessions Judge Pervezul Qadir Memon was hearing the plea.

During the hearing, Musharraf’s guarantors Nazeer Ahmed and Jan Muhammad appeared in the court and submitted their replies on show-cause notices.

Police also submitted a report regarding Musharraf’s arrest warrant, stating that teams went to Islamabad farmhouse and Karachi residence of the accused, but couldn’t find him there. The report further said that Musharraf has left the country.

Meanwhile, plaintiff’s lawyers appealed to the court to declare Musharraf an ‘absconder’. The court has reserved its decision on the plea till May 17.

It may be mentioned that a non-bailable warrant was issued against the former president in February in connection with the murder case of Lal Masjid cleric Abdul Rashid Ghazi.
