Former advisor to Chief Minister on Finance Mir Khalid Langov failed to appear before National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Saturday despite two prior notices.
NAB had issued a notice to Langov on Wednesday and Thursday to answer questions regarding the corruption scandal in which former Balochistan finance secretary Mushtaq Ahmed Raisani and two of his accomplices, Suhail Majeed and Kalat’s executive engineer Tariq Ali, have been arrested.
“We waited for two days, but the former finance adviser failed to appear”, a well-placed officer in NAB said.
Sources within Langov’s National Party (NP) disclosed that the latter has decided to appear before NAB on Monday to answer questions regarding the corruption scandal.
“Langov is touring his constituency and would appear before NAB on Monday,” they asserted.
NAB arrested Balochistan finance secretary Mushtaq Ahmed Raisani and recovered Rs 650 million worth of currency notes in rupee, US dollar, British pound and Saudi riyal, prize bonds worth millions of rupees and 2kg of gold.
Langov resigned from his post following Raisani’s arrest. He said that he is resigning as a man from his department is facing such grave allegations of corruption and foul play, which does not morally allow him to stay in his post.
