A witness in the Rs 462 billion corruption case against Dr Asim Hussain has recorded his statement in the Accountability Court (AC).
Raheel Shah Nawaz, who is an employee of a private audit company, told the court that he has conducted audit of accounts of Ziauddin Hospital till 2010. He has not observed anywhere that free treatment or any welfare work was done in the hospital. It is completely a commercial hospital, he said.
He further told the court that he found no evidence of corruption during the course of audit. Company had issued a letter to the institution following a transparent investigation. He said the letter has been given to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) as well.
He stated that during the audit, it came to his knowledge that the work was not being done in the hospital under income tax ordinance and the income tax office was informed in this respect.
The witness further told the court that he had never met Dr Asim and that he was seeing him for the first time in the court.
