The Balochistan government transferred Akbar Hussain Durrani from his top office in the home department to post as the Province’s Secretary Finance.
The official notification of Durrani’s posting as the Province’s Finance Secretary was issued on Friday. He was earlier serving as Balochistan’s home secretary.
Mohammad Akbar Harifal has been appointed as the Province’s new Home Secretary.
The provincial government has made large-scale shuffle in the finance department as 14 high-level officials including two deputy secretaries, two assistant secretaries, four undersecretaries and five sections officers have been transferred from the department.
Officials within Services & General Administration Department told the media that more officers in the finance department are likely to be transferred.
It should be noted that massive corruption scandal was exposed in Balochistan’s finance department when National Accountability Bureau (NAB) recovered a ‘treasure’ of local and foreign currency worth Rs. 630 million and a sizable quantity of gold from the residence of former Finance Secretary of Balochistan, Mushtaq Raisani.
NAB had got a 14-day remand of Raisani after producing him before an accountability court.
During the investigation, Raisani had revealed the names of 11 people involved in the corruption scam with him.
Director General NAB Balochistan Major General (retd.) Tariq Mehmood has said that it was unlikely that Raisani was working alone adding that other could also be involved with him.
