A woman on Friday gave birth to five babies – two boys and three girls – at Darul Sehat Hospital in Karachi.
Sources at Darul Sehat Hospital confirmed that a woman, Waheeda Jawaid, resident of Gwadar, Balochistan province, gave birth to quintuplets in the hospital’s maternity ward. They said the babies were physically fit, and were kept in incubators.
Doctors said the babies’ condition was normal, but next 24 hours were important for them as they were born pre-mature. The woman belongs to Balochistan province. Her family could not afford hospitalisation and medical treatment charges; however, Darul Sehat Hospital administration bore all expenses of mother and babies’ treatment. Sources further said that Waheeda, wife of Jawe, belongs to Gwadar with poor background. Member Provincial Assembly Balochistan Mir Hamal Kalmati helped the family in getting admission to the hospital. Earlier, a woman had given birth to five babies in a private hospital of Karachi over one-year ago. She also hailed from Balochistan.
