MQM wants grievance committee to be made active

The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has demanded of the federal government that the grievance redressal committee be activated to address irregularities in the Karachi operation.

“It has been five months since the committee was formed. Nawaz Sharif, Chaudhry Nisar and Ishaq Dar should be ashamed and make the committee active,” said Dr Farooq Sattar addressing a MQM protest on Thursday against missing workers outside the Mazar-e-Quaid premises.

The parliamentarian also demanded justice for their workers either in custody or killed. He said that while the COAS ordered for investigations into Aftab Ahmed’s case, the issue of other missing workers should also be taken up.

“We lost 240 workers as a result of target killing during the operation. Moreover, 135 workers and supporters have gone missing,” said Sattar.

He said that the MQM never took the law into their hands and if things are going wrong in the operation, then there should be accountability and justice.
