One nurse serving eight patients in Pakistan hospitals: Report

Nurses around the world are celebrating International Nurses’ Day on Thursday, the anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale.

The purpose of celebrating this day is to educate the public regarding the importance and efficacy of the nursing profession.

Just like around the world, the day is also being celebrated in Azad Kashmir where the nursing staff is going through numerous troubles and issues.

Due to the apathy of the government, women linked to the nursing profession in Azad Kashmir do not attain those incentives that they are eligible of.

The staffers said that they are bound to do work more than they have allotted due to lack of nurses but the authorities do not reward them with any appreciation.

Only one nurse serves eight patients in Azad Kashmir hospitals, tells report.

According to the health department, more than one thousand nurses are required as per the total number of patients in Azad Kashmir but only 300 nurses are available in the hospitals for services.

The administration’s negligence in the matter is also causing difficulties for patients and other workers.
