Pakistan has urged the United Nations to resolve long-standing disputes of Kashmir and Palestine.

The demand was made by Pakistani Ambassador Maleeha Lodhi while speaking at a high-level debate on ‘Peace and Security’ in the United Nations in New York.

She underscored the need for the world body to stop pursuing double standards and injustices being done the peoples of Kashmir and Palestine and honour the commitments made to them through its resolutions.

Maleeha Lodhi urged the 193 nation’s world body to play its role against the military aggression and denial of the right of self-determination to people living under occupation.

The Pakistani envoy questioned why the Security Council is reluctant to refer legal disputes to the International Court of Justice.
