President Mamnoon calls for ridding country of corruption

President Mamnoon Hussain has said that ridding the country of corruption is imperative for development.

Addressing the 15th convocation of Bahria University, Mamnoon said that corruption had afflicted innumerable losses to the country in the past and hindered its progress. He urged the youth to play their part for the permanent elimination of this menace.

Hussain pointed out that the country has now been put on the right course with economic indicators showing a positive trend.

Referring to the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project, the president said: “This will create hundreds of thousands of new job opportunities for the youth. This mega project will connect Pakistan with China through a road and rail link and it will make the country the hub of trade activities. This project will open new vistas of opportunities for the industrialists and traders.”

The president said that CPEC also envisages several power projects, including nuclear, which will help meet over the future energy requirements. He regretted that the power sector was neglected in the past, but the present government has launched several power projects to overcome the problem of load shedding.

Earlier, the president gave away awards and medals amongst the outstanding students.
