A filmmaker from Lyari, Ahsan Shah has made the country proud in the international arena by bringing an international award home.
His short film titled Jaawar which means ‘ongoing situation’ in Balochistan, has bagged the first prize at the Nasser Bin Hamad International Youth Creativity Awards.
The awards are sanctioned by Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, a member of the royal family and president of the Bahrain Olympic Committee.
Initially released in 2014, Jaawar highlights the impact of the gang war and violence on the residents of the town.
The film is written and directed by Shah himself and produced by Sohail Rahi. The cast includes Akhtar Danish, Shareef Rind and Yousuf Kalmati.
